Baltimore
Formerly a church parking lot in West Baltimore, New Shiloh is now a comfortable green property for seniors with low incomes.

One of the recently preserved affordable housing communities in Montgomery County, Md., the creation of Takoma Park Preservation allowed dozens of residents to remain in their homes and enjoy the peace of mind of affordable, energy-efficient housing for years to come.

Gulf Coast
Upon completion, the redevelopment of Lafitte in New Orleans will offer 1500 mixed-income homes, including one for one replacement of all 900 subsided properties, and will be built to Enterprise Green Communities Criteria incorporating healthy and energy-efficient building practices, material and systems.

Los Angeles
Near booming downtown Los Angeles, the JW Apartments were designed to be an environmentally responsive home for large and small families, close to schools and public transportation.

New York City
Green living in the heart of Harlem, David & Joyce Dinkins Gardens offers families and youth aging out of foster care homes that are safe, affordable and sustainable.

Nearly 400 people with low incomes call Intervale home. This Energy Star-certified building was built from nontoxic materials to help keep the air cleaner in a neighborhood that has one of the highest asthma rates in New York.

Ohio
A mixed-income development, Tremont Pointe brings environmental responsiveness to Cleveland's urban core.

Pacific Northwest
Set overlooking Elliott Bay in West Seattle, High Point is a mixed-income community that is home to the nationally recognized Breathe Easy program, with specially engineered townhomes to drastically reduce or eliminate asthma and asthma related respiratory ailments for children with low-income participating in the program.

With environmentally responsive construction, Colonia Amistad offers farm workers and their families energy- and water- efficient lifestyles.

Northern California
At the interface of downtown Berkeley, Calif. and the University of California at Berkeley, Oxford Plaza is one of the only green affordable properties in the city and is a model for transit-oriented, sustainable development.

Located in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood, the Essex provides 85 healthy-living studio apartments for formerly homeless individuals with disabilities.

Washington, D.C.
R Street Apartments, a newly rehabilitated cluster of apartment buildings preserves and greens affordable housing for families in one of the District's most up-and-coming neighborhoods.

Washington, D.C. has one of the most expensive housing markets in the country. Yet at Wheeler Terrace, due to open in 2010, residents with low incomes will have the opportunity to raise their families in a  completely rehabilitated, seven-building apartment community that will not only meet the Enterprise Green Communities Criteria, but will also strive to obtain LEED Gold Certification.
